ignore Shuuen no Shiori on the left, it's just for size comparison
I can't believe I didn't write anything in this blog for the whole 2016... I guess it's already late to say this but I hope you guys had a great start for 2017!! (*´∀ `*)
The reason I'm resurrecting this dead blog is because I just finished reading this novel, Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi. The title might be familiar to some people, because it shares the same title as the 1995 SNES game, Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi! Both are written by Ijima. The differences are this novel is more like a sequel, but not entirely related to the game. The cast are entirely new, and the events happened years (not sure how many) after Gakkowa, I think. Both of them takes place in the same school though, Narugami Gakuen, but this novel takes place in the elementary school department (hence people shorten it as 小学怖/Shougakkowa, from 小学館『学校であった怖い話』, to differentiate it from the SNES Gakkowa/学怖, where the event took place in the high school department).
Now, I'm not very familiar with the mother title, nor am I even fond with horror genre in general. I bought this book because a Japanese artist I follow on twitter seems to like this series, and of course, Himaruya's art. I'm a bit bummed I'm 3 years late to the wagon, it looks like during the pre-order period at some online stores, you could get a card with a random character from the book, drawn by Himaruya ( ´╥ω╥`)
More about the book below the cut!
